Carnival Cruise Line Carnival Magic cruise ship

The waiters serve Chianti from rolling kegs and entertain the diners with lively songs. Ah, imagine a perfect day out on the links, the golfer's zen of the ball, the hole and nothing in between but well-manicured fairway... Whoever it was, they had one thing in mind — maximum fun for mini-golfers, big and small! That's precisely why you'll find a course on every Carnival ship, where you can hit the holes and take in everything you’d expect, like the sights and the sounds... These staterooms are great for a pair of cruisers on a budget, creatively maximizing space with a different layout — featuring one Twin bed, and either an upper Pullman or sofa bed. Fun-lovers of every age are sure to find it at the top-deck aqua park with two hair-raising waterslides — a bowl slide and a spiral, plus a gigantic tipping bucket that will drench you to shrieks of delight.

This is a notable change for the brand from just a couple of decades ago. There was a time when Carnival operated some of the biggest cruise ships in the world. However, for many years, it has held back from following rivals such as Royal Caribbean and MSC Cruises in building ever-bigger ships. Mardi Gras and Carnival Celebration are now the only Carnival ships on the list of the world's 50 biggest cruise vessels. (On Lido deck 10) were added 2 new poolside eateries (both complimentary) – Guy’s Burger Joint (fast-food bar) and Bluelguana Cantina (Mexican eatery). Other new venues on Lido Deck are BlueIguana Tequila Bar (Mexican-themed outdoor bar for frozens and beers) and the Pizzeria del Capitano (complimentary).

The 1,845 Carnival Magic cabins and suites are similar to the wide array of accommodations on the Carnival Dream. Families love the two-bathroom/five-berth cabins and the connecting staterooms. Carnival has continued the cove balcony cabins on deck 2 that have cozy balconies closer to the water line and the spa cabins that provide special access and benefits. Carnival Magic’s staterooms, even with this being a (somewhat) older ship, are pretty spacious, surprisingly. You’ll find interior, ocean view and balcony staterooms, all with plenty of floor space, seating and large bathrooms in many.

For instance, Carnival Dream and Carnival Magic both feature ropes courses on their top decks while Carnival Breeze has a 4D "thrill theater." These innovations first debuted on Dream-class ships. The water park area on Carnival Horizon is particularly alluring if you're a Dr. Seuss fan. Unique among the water parks in the Carnival fleet, it has a Dr. Seuss theme. The water park area on Carnival Venezia also is notable as it has one more water slide than the water parks on the Vista-class ships. Designed to take Carnival's "fun ship" shtick to a new level, the ships are so big that, as noted above, they have room for roller coasters on their top decks — a cruise industry first. They also have a far broader array of suites than earlier Carnival vessels.

Four cantilevered whirlpools extend out over the sides of the ship, providing a relaxing place to watch the world go by on the Lanai. When the cool ocean breeze hits your nose with the sweet smell of smoke, you know you better follow it to Guy’s Pig & Anchor Bar-B-Que Smokehouse. At this onboard, open-air spot, Guy's doin’ his authentic, real-deal barbecue, his way. Throw in his signature line of barbecue sauces and you’ve got a rockin’ sea day on deck. Other new venues on Lido deck are BlueIguana Tequila Bar (Mexican-themed outdoor bar for frozens and beers) and the Pizzeria del Capitano (complimentary).

Magic offers attractive breakfast and lunch buffets, including an excellent salad bar and made-to-order dishes. For those with a sophisticated palate, the new menus feature chateaubriand, rack of lamb, and lobster, along with chocolate desserts. Delightful specialties can be found on the second tier of the Cezanne Restaurant and include the Sur Mer seafood station and an Asian food station that regularly rotates its dishes. There’s a complimentary sushi bar on the Promenade Deck in the evenings, and vegetarian and low-salt items on every menu and at all stations. All Carnival cruises have a $10.00 per person per day (excluding children under two years of age) gratuity comprising $5.50 for the Dining Room service, $3.60 for the stateroom steward, and $.90 for the alternative dining rooms.

Deck 2

We designed Carnival Magic balcony staterooms for maximum sea breeze and the most stunning views, and this stateroom features a balcony that's even wider than our standard balcony. Enjoy the extra outdoor space, along with all the standard Carnival stateroom amenities. Everyone seems to enjoy the outdoor deck areas of the Carnival Magic. The SportSquare area on the top deck aft offers guests the chance to try the cruise industry's first ropes course, aptly named the SkyCourse. The 230-foot ropes course has 20 bridges, each named for a Carnival home port city; 10 distinct elements; and 20 different activities over two different loops, an inner basic loop and an outer more "challenging" route.

Lots of fun youth activities designed for specific age groups offer kids a magical time that will make them feel that they are at summer camp at sea — but even better. Imagine while they are having such a great time, you can experience blissful relaxation at the peaceful area that is just for adults or indulge in some of the many rejuvenating treatments, such as a message, at the two-deck spa. Two formal restaurants serve open seating breakfast and lunch, while dinner is served in two traditional assigned seatings with an open seating option. The casual Lido buffet’s food stations offer a variety of choices (including a deli, salad bar, dessert station, and different daily regional cuisines). By night, it is transformed into the Seaview Bistro for casual dinner.

Even though you’re on vacation, you won’t have to settle for anything less than the salon style you’re used to back on land. And these good looks go beyond the usual — we even offer services like teeth whitening… great for taking those ‘I’m on vacation and I’m looking great! Voyages to the Caribbean include 4 sea days (2 southbound plus 2 northbound). If your wellness regimen focuses more on relaxation than working out, though, you can always make a trip to the Carnival Magic spa, which is pretty large and offers a wide range of treatments. The menu prices are a bit on the expensive side, but frequent Carnival cruisers laud the cruise line for its very nice spa experiences.

Its new Excel-class vessels — which first debuted in 2021 with the arrival of Mardi Gras — are far bigger than its earlier ships. These ships also have a lot of new features and amenities (including the first-ever roller coaster on a cruise ship — and, no, we're not making that up). Nearly all onboard dining options are included in the fare, as are comedy and production shows, children’s programs, and use of state-of-the-art fitness centers. Day or night, find a spot on deck and check out the huge poolside screen — it's Carnival Seaside Theater™!

Unique is the Ocean Plaza, an indoor–outdoor cafĂ© and live music venue with a large, circular dance floor. A massive floor-to-ceiling curved-glass wall separates the room, creating comfortable seating areas with ocean views and, in a first for Carnival, a half-mile, open-air promenade encircling the ship. Carnival has made excellent use of the space over the Lido Marketplace, adding an Italian family-style dining venue called Cucina del Capitano ("The Captain's Kitchen"). This traditional Italian restaurant, with its red and white checked tablecloths and kegs of Chianti, pays homage to Carnival's Italian heritage.

As a result, it has a much stronger Italy theme and a few design differences. Still, enough is the same that for all practical purposes, it is a Vista-class ship in all but name. Carnival Vista and Carnival Horizon, which officially are Vista-class ships, also have Imax theaters — the first in the cruise industry. Carnival Panorama, also a Vista-class ship, instead has the first trampoline park ever put on a cruise ship, in a partnership with Sky Zone.
